What Are RSS Feeds?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a method of transmitting periodic updates to computers via the Internet. The Home & Family Finance Resource Center feed contains headlines, article summaries, and links to full articles for all the timely content featured on the front page.

To subscribe to RSS feeds, you need to use something called a news reader, or aggregator; there are dozens of news readers available, and many are offered free of charge. Some readers are available as desktop software that you download and install on your computer. Others are Web-based readers that you can access on the Internet. Try searching for "RSS reader" on Google (or view this search).

The particulars of how to subscribe to a feed will vary depending on the program you choose as your reader. Please consult the documentation for your reader for more information.
